Scottish Ambulance Service
27 July 2009
The Scottish Ambulance Service has recently commissioned CCS to assist in the rationalisation of its PTS systems.
Until recently, PTS operations were organised and controlled from three regional centres with systems in Edinburgh, Paisley and Inverness. Under the new scheme the SAS has replaced the existing systems with a single National Data Centre supporting several Virtual Control Centres and numerous remote users at treatment centres, GP practices and health centres throughout Scotland. The installation represents the largest single Ambulance Service system in the UK, if not the world, handling over 2.3 million patient journeys each year and supporting over 2000 users. In addition to optimising system support costs and eliminating cross boundary problems, the new configuration will provide many benefits including improvements in journey planning and scheduling, resource utilisation and corporate reporting.
