e-Gate Browser Products
aptsMOBILECCS is pleased to announce the launch of a new mobile data communications system for special passenger transport services providers running APTS. Developed by CCS, the system provides real-time communications between Service vehicles and Control Centres using Blackberry, or other browser devices. The new system, aptsMOBILE, is the latest product in the CCS e-Gate family of Web gateway applications. Until now, systems with this level of functionality were massively expensive and beyond the reach of most transport providers. Traditionally, mobile data products rely on software resident on the mobile device which includes sophisticated routines to handle journey sorting, additional journeys, cancellations, software upgrades and ‘store and forward’ when out of cover. With aptsMOBILE all application software resides on a central Web Site integrated with APTS thus removing many of the problems associated with traditional mobile devices. The main advantage, however, is price. aptsMOBILE is a fraction of the cost of traditional mobile data systems. Crew work schedules are delivered directly to the mobile and the system records collection and delivery times for service quality monitoring and ‘on the day’ control. The system also handles additional work, cancellations, aborted journeys and text messaging. The host system (APTS) manages the mobile data transactions and records all outgoing and incoming messages for control, reporting and audit purposes. Designed to reduce transport control and administration costs the system provides an integrated system for mobile data communication and the capture of service delivery data for quality monitoring and real-time control. The new system is available to all APTS users and will be of particular interest to Ambulance Services, Social Services, Education Services, Dial-a-Ride Services and other Demand Responsive Transport services.
